Austin Wilcox: Graduate Student

I got my BS in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development from the University of Minnesota in May 2018. During my time in Minnesota, I worked for Dr. Hiroshi Nakato researching the role of heparan sulfate proteoglycans in D. melanogaster stem cell control.

In August of 2018, I started the MCDBN Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois in Chicago and I joined the Shingleton laboratory shortly after. I’m interested in the developmental mechanisms that control body proportion. Using D. melanogaster as a model organism, I wish to expand on this poorly understood phenomenon.
